The use of Darbe-500 increases oxygen absorption, reduce fatigue and improve endurance by increasing the rate of
red cell production. It is also believed that Darbe-500 increases the metabolism and the healing process of muscles
because the extra red cells carry more oxygen and nutrients.
As far as equine athletes are concerned, use of Darbe-500 offers a
means to increase arterial/blood oxygen content, which in turn leads to
an increase in maximal oxygen uptake. Horses and camels benefit
most from an increase in maximal oxygen uptake as this is one of the
limiting factors for performance. An additional benefit of Darbe-500
use is once administration is discontinued, red blood cells return
to their original levels within a 3-4 week period.
Furthermore, the enhanced red blood cell mass may allow the equine
athlete to sustain a greater training stimulus, which could produce
a subsequent improvement in performance

WHAT IS DARBE-500?
DARBE-500 is Darbepoetin Afla Variant that promotes the formation of red blood cells by the bone
marrow.
The kidney cells that make erythropoietin are sensitive to low oxygen levels in the blood that travels
through the kidney. These cells make and release erythropoietin when the oxygen level is too low.
A low oxygen level may indicate a diminished number of red blood cells (anaemia), or haemoglobin molecules that carry oxygen through the body. DARBE-500 will boost red blood cells to combat
anaemia and ensure maximum performance
HOW DOES IT WORK?
DARBE-500 stimulates the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells. The resulting rise in red
cells increases the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
As the prime regulator of red cell production, DARBE-500’s major functions are to:
• Promote the development of red blood cells.
• Initiate the synthesis of haemoglobin, the molecule within red blood cells that transports oxygen.
