SUPER CALCIUM

SUPER-CALCIUM:

It is a supplement designed to support the development and repair of healthy
Strong bones in growing horses, horses in intense training, competition, racing and those recovering from injury. As well as providing bioavailable calcium and magnesium,

SUPER-CALCIUM: contains a unique ingredient called Resveratrol, an antioxidant compound found in fermented grapes. Resveratrol has been shown to influence bone metabolism and can reduce the occurrence of osteoporosis. Bone Care also contains Vitamin K, Vitamin D3, Zinc, Copper, Magnesium, and Manganese for optimal maintenance and development of bone density and structure.

Young, growing horses are at risk of a range of bone disorders such as osteochondrosis
desiccant (OCD) and developmental orthopedic disease (DOD), while young
racehorses in training are at a high risk of “sore shins” (dorsal metacarpal disease).
Bone chips and bone fractures are a risk for all horses in training, especially those in
intense work and those that have a high bone turnover and high sweat losses, such
as racehorses, endurance horses, and eventers.

Calcium and magnesium are critical structural components of bone, and around 90%
of the body, calcium and 60% of the body's magnesium are stored in bones. Bone Care
provides three different sources of calcium, including natural bioavailable calcium from
alfalfa and highly bioavailable calcium in the form of calcium gluconate. Bone Care also
contains magnesium; calcium and magnesium uptake are related, and magnesium uptake is enhanced by calcium and vice versa. Chelated, bioavailable copper, zinc, and manganese are included in Bone Care as these are all required for optimal bone maintenance, growth, and repair.

Vitamin D stimulates calcium uptake from the gut and controls the laying down of the bone matrix and the deposition of calcium to increase bone strength. Horses can synthesize Vitamin D if exposed to sunlight at a sufficient intensity for a long enough time regularly.

Vitamin K also plays a central role in increasing bone strength by increasing bone
formation and suppressing bone resorption (breakdown). Vitamin K does occur in plants
but has low bioavailability. Vitamin K is also low in preserved forages.
