WHAT IS ACETYLENE L-CARNITINE?
Acetylene L-Carnitine is an acetylated form of L-carnitine. It is naturally produced by the body of the
animal, although is often taken as a supplement. Acetyl L-Carnitine is broken down in the blood by
plasma esterases to carnitine which is used by the body to transport fatty acids into the mitochondria
for breakdown.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
L-Carnitine (and Acetyl-L-carnitine) supports cellular energy metabolism by helping to transport fatty
acids into the cell to be used as energy. Acetyl-L-carnitine also supports brain health. Nutrition researchers believe that Acetyl-L-Carnitine improves cognition by enhancing the activity of acetylcholine and/or increasing neuronal metabolism.
ALC may also increase dopamine activity and enhance cerebro-vascular and cardio-vascular blood
flow. It may also prevent the decrease of plasma testosterone associated with high training loads,
and will likely have a positive effect on your Horse or Camels endogenous testosterone levels.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
Via injection: 3ml per 100 kg bodyweight (15ml per average adult horse) by intravenous or intramuscular injection. Use 2 – 3 times weekly. Give the final dose 4-6 hours before hard or fast work.
Veterinarians have reported significant improvement in horses using high doses of 20-25 ml twice
weekly.
